Minor improvements

- Fixed an edge-case where the bottom toolbar on iOS 18 and earlier would show up without a background color when changing to a compact layout with a document open
 
Liquid Glass design on iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 with new app icons, transparent toolbars and a floating thumbnail sidebar. The document browser has been improved and now lets you set the default app for opening PDFs (long press on a file and go to Get Info)!
The iPad version gains even more desktop-class features with freely resizable windows with window controls, a menu bar and a new sidebar floating above the content. Navigation has been improved and now resemble the macOS version in even more ways. The new menu bar makes it easy to find functionality or the correct window, thanks to the new window titles.
New languages are also available for OCR and text recognition in image selections: Turkish, Indonesian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Malay, Polish, Romanian and Swedish.
iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 iOS will officially be released on Monday September 15th.
*Writing tools requires iOS/iPadOS 18.1 and a device compatible with Apple Intelligence. Automatic language detection requires iOS/iPadOS 16 or newer. Support for Thai and Vietnamese requires iOS/iPadOS 17. Arabic requires iOS/iPadOS 18.
The OS requirements for languages available to OCR are the same, but the new languages and automatic language detection were already enabled.

These new Apple Pencil features require an iPad running iPadOS 17.5 or newer. Hover preview works with any Apple Pencil except the 1st generation. The floating tool palette requires an Apple Pencil Pro or the Apple Pencil 2nd generation (with the Double-tap gesture in Highlights set to Tool Palette in Settings > Apple Pencil).

In iPadOS 16 you can also collaborate on PDF documents via iCloud links. Just share the document and select Collaborate instead of Send Copy. The documents show up in the new Shared-tab in the document browser. Tapping on the “Shared with You”-button below the document in the document browser will take you directly to the conversation where the document was shared in Messages or Mail.
